USS Midway was commissioned in 1945 and served as the flagship for Desert Storm in 1991. It was opened as a museum in 2004 at Navy Pier, San Diego.I got up close and personal with aircraft from all eras on the flight deck. Standing beside Sidewinder missiles (minus the dangerous parts) evoked a sense of why "War is Hell."
